Have you ever wondered why you’re human? How does the world work as if it’s always at equilibrium? What is the meaning of life? Are there more lives to live in the future? To answer these questions we have to first find the link between our human conscious and the everyday real world. What is this connection between the two? The two connections for these topics are the simple molecule DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) and the study of our universe (generally NASA). Unfortunately our government and society like to sweep these things under the rug. Most people want to just believe in a religion and not try to justify our daily life. If our society focused on finding the true meaning of our existence, instead of trying to produce the next I pad 3. We could come to some conclusions on the way we should be living versus the way we are now.
Atlantis, the last space shuttle to venture into outer space by the United States on july 8th 2011. Was the last time the United states funded an expedition to space. President Obama concluded that NASA would be getting a cut in funding and a cut in the number of workers as well. Giving up the space ship launches to Russia. Meaning we would have to have our astronauts “hitchhike” with the Russians which would cost 30 million more alone. Future models of new and improved space crafts might obtain funding in the future, but there are no guarantees. President Obama might be saving us money but at the same time pushing us away from scientific reasoning to our upcoming future. Which is more important? The understanding of our future, or more money for our society for us to continue on the path to a major fiasco.
In 2010 “DMT- the spirit molecule” the documentary about DMT was released for society to see. Surprisingly the movie didn’t have as much of an effect on the population as I thought it would. Everyone I mentioned it to was very moved by the information given in the movie. Why were people all over not questioning upon this unique molecule and its properties?
If we can come to a conclusion on our existence and our future, we could reshape the world of today. It could help us cope with our “real life” and the actions we would need to take to survive in the future. The possibilities are endless on what we could find after putting more and more attention towards these topics. Just like when you build a house. A foundation is needed first before you can build upwards. Our understanding of living and the universe is still shady. So how can we create an ideal society (the house), when we don’t understand our significance in the universe (foundation). Just like a house with no foundation, it collapses. Just like our society today, sustainability being an example of many.

I feel like this is a really broad topic to write an essay about and I think you will have some trouble convincing people about science and religion. There are many people that will not want to hear what you have to say because of their strong faith backgrounds and will find every way to contradict you. But, I really did like the conclusion and the comparison between building a house.
ReplyDeleteI think this has potential if you make sure to focus a lot on the NASA aspect. Also, elaborate when you said "major fiasco" because it will help support your point if you have some statistics to back that up.
ReplyDeleteI think this could be a really good essay. I got a little lost though... I thought you could tie it all together a little better. I agree with Annaleigh about there being people out there that will fight you on the religion aspect of this paper... but I don't think that's a reason to stop writing it. Just be aware. :) I also agree w/ Jess, I want more about NASA. My grandfather worked for NASA many years ago, so this recent decision hits close to home. Tell us more about it!
