CALL FOR PAPERS/ESSAYS

I just got an email with this call for papers and essays. I thought I'd pass it along in case any of you might be interested in revising your Life Place essays and seeing if you might get them published. It looks great on the old Resume or CV. Here's the blurb.

A Natural History of Now: Reports from the Edge of Nature will be published by Kelson Books (Portland) in Fall 2012, as a joint project with the Environmental Studies Program of the University of Montana. It will be a small book of memorable prose.

We are looking for edgy, sharp essays and stories (fiction and nonfiction) that expand the definition of “nature writing.” Length: 500 to 2500 words. We’re open to many approaches: personal , lyric, experimental, or formal – for an informed general audience (nothing footnoted or exclusively academic). We expect urban and social themes and we long to be surprised by fresh approaches to outdoor, wild, semi-wild, and tamed spaces. We hope for responses to our global mess and also explorations of the intimate and local. We are seeking funny and sexy and serious and unexpected.
Deadline: noon March 29, 2012
