"Don't Renigg 2012!"

Hey guys, one of my friends posted about a "racially charged sign" in Columbia Falls.  The sign, as well as bumper stickers the store was selling, read, "Don't Renigg in 2012."  I think it poses some interesting questions about racism in relation to free speech and how people react/don't react.

Here is a link to the conversation some of my friends are having on facebook about the sign (keep in mind, this conversation probably has a liberal bias): http://www.facebook.com/zacjperry/posts/350340725009368?comment_id=4356395&notif_t=like

Here is what the local newspaper said about it:
COLUMBIA FALLS- A controversial billboard has some Flathead Valley residents up in arms.

Several concerned citizens recently contacted Montana's News Station to inform us about what they consider a "racially charged" message written on a marquee sign in front of a Columbia Falls pawn shop.

Pawn Plus on U.S. Highway 2 in Columbia Falls displayed a sign on their billboard notifying customers about a bumper sticker for sale and the message on the bumper sticker essentially told customers not to vote for President Obama in the 2012 election.

Several passerby's took offense to the sign and called the Columbia Falls Police Department. But, law enforcement officials said there was no legal standing for the business to take down the sign.

We spoke with the pawn shop owners, who declined to go on camera, but told us the message was taken in the wrong connotation and if you go online, the sayings are everywhere.

But, they added they are no longer selling the bumper stickers in the store and the pawn shop owners have also changed their sign.
