Loni Neilson PAA Narrative

Nature vs, or, and Nurture
This topic has always been interesting to me. My good friend Katie that I have grown up with is adopted. She has always been grateful for her adopted family and has loved the opportunities that are available to her because she was raised by them. However studies have shown that as humans we are better off to be raised by our own blood rather than by others that can provide a more beneficial environment. I have always taken the side that children should be raised by those who can provide for the child as well as love the child unconditionally.

I had no idea that research was going on that swapped versus in between the words Nature plus nurture to and. Researchers have found that this really isn’t a battle between environment and heredity but a battle of genetics. Genetics really do play a role on this subject because genes can shape how human beings will take to the environment they are raised in and the guardians that are nurturing them. Studies show that DNA and environment are linked in a greater way.
“There is increasing acceptance of the evidence for substantial genetic influence on many behavioral traits, but the same research also provides the best available evidence for the importance of the environmental influence and important clues about how the environment works.” (Plomin Asbury)
This piece of research like so many others all implemented the thought that environment is essential to a healthy lifestyle. You could say that my view on this subject really didn’t change at all but in fact it has. I do now believe after researching this subject that genetics really do play a role. Depending on this beings DNA they might not be able to live in a certain environment.
